- Constitutional Court of Spain. Challenge Decision of Autonomous Provisions (Title V LOTC) number 7118-2024, regarding sections two, three, and six of the Agreement of the Canary Islands Government of September 2, 2024, related to unaccompanied foreign minors, and the Resolution of the General Directorate for the Protection of Children and Families of September 10, 2024, establishing the Territorial Protocol for the reception of unaccompanied migrant minors in the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands. - EU Entry/Exit System. The launch of the new Entry/Exit System (EES) of the European Union, scheduled to begin operations on November 10, 2024, has been postponed. This delay is due to concerns about the readiness of the necessary infrastructure and fears of potential disruptions at ports and airports. Link: ARC Legal.
- Lebanon Conflict. The government has activated the emergency declaration for the care of Spanish nationals evacuated from Lebanon. Link: Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security, and Migration.
- Foreign Worker Affiliation. The Social Security system registered 2,865,086 foreign affiliates in September, after discounting seasonality and calendar effects, following an increase of 15,088 employed individuals vs the previous month. Link: Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security, and Migration.
- Albania Accession to the European Union. This week, a Ministerial-level Accession Conference was held with Albania. Link: European Council.
- Frontex – Irregular Border Crossings. Frontex has published statistical data on irregular border crossings during the first nine months of the year. The number of irregular border crossings into the European Union fell by 42%, down to 166,000, in the first nine months of this year. Link: Frontex.
- ICAM – Spanish nationality by residence. On October 15, ICAM held a seminar on immigration law focusing on Spanish nationality by residence. Here is the link to the seminar video. Link: Youtube – ICAM.
- Spanish Council of Ministers. On October 15, the Council of Ministers approved a series of international agreements and treaties. Link: Council of Ministers.
