The Secretaría de Estado de Migraciones (‘State Secretariat for Migration‘) has issued a new statement with significant implications for those in the process of applying for international protection in Spain. According to the statement, asylum seekers and applicants for international protection residing in any of the municipalities affected by the DANA will be able to apply for residence permits under exceptional circumstances, as outlined in the Resolution of February 12, 2025, published following the Council of Ministers’ Agreement of February 11, 2025, without the need to withdraw their international protection application beforehand.
