Spanish community in the Mexican Pacific gains new Honorary Consulate in Puerto Vallarta

The Government of Spain has approved the establishment of an Honorary Consulate in Puerto Vallarta, with jurisdiction over municipalities in the states of Jalisco and Nayarit, including Puerto Vallarta, Bahía de Banderas, Compostela, and San Blas.

Until now, Spanish citizens in this area of the Mexican Pacific coast depended on the Consulate General in Guadalajara, located more than 350 km away. The opening of this new Consulate responds to the growing Spanish community in the region—made up of residents, entrepreneurs, and professionals—as well as the steady increase in tourism from Spain.
