The Plenary Session of the Spanish Congress of Deputies will debate and vote tomorrow, Thursday, September 10, on the bill concerning the granting of Spanish nationality to Sahrawi nationals born under Spanish administration.
The bill proposes granting access to Spanish nationality by naturalization to individuals born in Western Sahara before September 29, 1977, even if they do not have legal residence in Spain. It also provides for different ways to prove this status, a five-year period for first-degree descendants to apply for nationality by option, and the possibility of applying for Spanish nationality by residence after two years of legal residence in Spain.
The initiative is not yet in force. If approved by the Congress of Deputies, it will continue its legislative procedure in the Senate.
