Spain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation has recently published the 2024 Consular Activity Report, which provides an overview of the work carried out by Spain’s consular network over the past year and highlights its key role in assisting and protecting Spanish citizens abroad.

Below you can read the full report -in Spanish– published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, offering a general overview of the services provided by Spain’s Consular Offices, the main data from 2024, and the strategic areas of action.

The document highlights the work of 178 career Consular Offices and more than 500 honorary consulates, which together served millions of Spanish citizens residing or travelling abroad. It provides a snapshot of key topics such as visa and passport issuance, legal assistance, emergency consular services, and support for individuals in vulnerable situations.

The report also coincides with the 75th anniversary of the creation of the Directorate-General for Consular Affairs, celebrated in 2024, and will serve as a reference point for assessing the performance of Spain’s external service in the coming months.
