On June 16, 2025, Order PJC/617/2025 was published in Spain’s Official State Gazette (BOE). This order sets the new official fees for processing administrative authorizations and identity documents related to immigration matters. The update was necessary following the entry into force of the new Immigration Regulation (Royal Decree 1155/2024), effective since May 20, 2025.

⏺️ What’s new in this Order?
The main purpose of this new regulation is to align immigration fees with the updated procedures introduced by the new Immigration Regulation. Below are the key highlights:
- Updated fees for all immigration procedures, including stay permits, residence permits, work permits, modifications, and foreign identity cards (TIEs).
- The Order PRE/1803/2011 remains a reference point, but important changes have been introduced to reflect the new categories and procedures.
- Specific fees have also been set for new figures such as internships, job-seeking residence, entrepreneurship, and exceptional circumstances.
- Payment of fees will be self-assessed, with the official form provided by the competent authority.
- The voluntary payment deadline will be 10 working days from the submission date (or from registration with Social Security in some cases).
- For electronic applications, payment must be completed at the time of online submission.
⏺️ Who is required to pay these fees?
In general, the foreign applicant is responsible for paying the corresponding fee. However:
- In the case of work permits for employees, the employer must pay the fee.
- Certain individuals and groups are exempt, such as:
- Nationals of Ibero-American countries, Andorra, the Philippines, or Equatorial Guinea.
- Children and grandchildren of Spanish nationals by origin.
- Unaccompanied foreign minors.
- Women who are victims of gender-based violence or human trafficking, among other protected cases.
⏺️ Effective date and official publication
The Order came into force the same day it was published: Monday, June 16, 2025. From that date onward, all applications must comply with the updated fee structure.
