The Instituto Cervantes has published the results of the February 2026 DELE A2 exam session. Nearly 9,739 candidates registered for this session, including over 1,689 who took the specific A2 exam designed for non-literate individuals. The pass rate stands at around 71%.
It is important to remember that passing the DELE exam is a mandatory requirement for applying for Spanish nationality by residency, unless you fall under one of the exceptions provided by law.
💡 You are not required to prove your Spanish language proficiency if you are a national of one of the following countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Equatorial Guinea, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
The DELE test is also not required for minors under 18 or for individuals whose legal capacity has been modified by court ruling.
Furthermore, some individuals may request a waiver if they meet specific criteria and obtain prior authorization from the Spanish Ministry of Justice. These cases include:
– Persons aged 70 or older.
– Those holding official diplomas obtained in Spain in Spanish, at intermediate or higher education levels.
– Holders of the Spanish secondary education diploma (ESO).
– Individuals with a disability or learning disorder of 65% or more.
– Those already holding a DELE diploma of at least A2 level.
– Holders of a basic (A2), intermediate (B1), or advanced (B2) certificate from an Official Language School in Spain.
A waiver can also be requested in cases of illiteracy.
If you took the exam in February 2026, you can now check your results by logging into the Instituto Cervantes platform using your credentials. The review period is open from April 8 through April 24, 2026. If you wish to request a grade review, you may do so through the electronic form available in your private area on the Instituto Cervantes Exam Portal.
If you passed the exam, your certificate is officially valid, internationally recognized, and has no expiration date. If you did not pass, don’t worry—you’ll have the opportunity to retake the test in upcoming sessions.
