We are starting September and the new judicial year with new decisions and, therefore, good news for our clients.
Following the summer break, we have received another favourable decision for one of our clients: the renewal of their non-lucrative residence permit in Spain has been granted.
In this particular case, one of the key aspects in preparing the application was the proper organisation and evidence of the financial means required for the renewal.

⏺️ Organisation and evidence of financial means
One of the main requirements for renewing a non-lucrative residence permit is demonstrating that the applicant has sufficient financial means for the renewal period.
In this particular case, we had a significant amount of financial documentation that needed to be reviewed, selected and organised before submitting the application.
When financial resources are spread across different accounts, financial institutions or investment products, preparing the application may require a more detailed analysis. This may be the case, for example, where there are funds held in foreign currencies, bank accounts in different countries, certificates issued by banks or brokers, investments or other financial assets.
In these situations, it is not simply a matter of gathering documents and submitting them with the application. The documentation needs to be carefully reviewed, the relevant evidence identified, and the applicant’s overall financial position explained clearly.
Particular attention must also be paid to exchange rates where some of the applicant’s resources are denominated in a currency other than euros. The documentation should make it possible to understand the value of the funds being evidenced and their equivalent value for the purposes of verifying compliance with the applicable financial requirements.
Our work in this case therefore involved not only confirming that the available documentation demonstrated sufficient financial means, but also structuring and presenting all of this information to the Immigration Office in a simple, clear and coherent manner.
Bank certificates, statements, broker certificates and other financial documentation should be reviewed together so that the authorities can easily understand what financial resources the applicant has, where those resources are held and their value.
Having sufficient funds does not necessarily mean that the financial requirement has been properly evidenced. The type of documentation provided, the period it covers, the currency in which the assets are denominated, and the way in which the financial resources are presented and explained are all matters that should be carefully analysed before submitting the application.
In cases involving a substantial volume of financial documentation, the way in which that documentation is organised can be just as important as the documentation itself.
⏺️ Favourable renewal decision
Following the submission and processing of the application, the Immigration Office issued a favourable decision, granting the renewal of our client’s non-lucrative residence permit.
This new successful case highlights the importance of reviewing each renewal application individually and, in particular, of presenting financial documentation in a clear, organised and coherent manner.
