Today, April 15, 2026, the Royal Decree 316/2026, dated April 14, was published in the Boletín Oficial del Estado. This regulation amends the Regulation implementing Organic Law 4/2000 on the rights and freedoms of foreign nationals in Spain and their social integration.
This Royal Decree introduces several amendments to Royal Decree 1155/2024 and incorporates, among other measures, new provisions that establish the framework for an extraordinary regularization process in Spain.
This regularization is structured through new residence authorizations based on exceptional circumstances, aimed at addressing the situation of foreign nationals who are currently in Spain in an irregular status or with pending procedures, facilitating their access to a regular administrative status.
The regulation was approved by the Council of Ministers of Spain at its meeting on April 14, 2026, and officially published in the BOE on April 15, 2026.
